Volunteer Policies
Welcome to the Border Family Relief Alliance (BFRA)! We are thrilled to have you as part of our community dedicated to helping families affected by the border crisis. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our mission, and we strive to create a positive, respectful, and collaborative environment for everyone involved.
1. Commitment to Mission
As a volunteer with BFRA, we expect that you align with our mission to provide relief and support to families in U.S. border communities. Volunteers should be committed to assisting in a manner that upholds our core values of compassion, integrity, and respect for all individuals.
2. Volunteer Conduct
We expect all volunteers to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. This includes treating others with respect, following all instructions and procedures, and working collaboratively. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.
3. Confidentiality
Volunteers may have access to sensitive or private information while helping at BFRA. It is essential to respect confidentiality at all times. Volunteers should not disclose any personal or sensitive information obtained during their time with us without proper authorization.
4. Health & Safety
The safety of our volunteers, staff, and those we serve is our priority. Volunteers should adhere to all health and safety guidelines provided by BFRA and relevant local authorities. This includes following COVID-19 protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear, and reporting any safety hazards immediately.
5. Punctuality and Reliability
Volunteers should make every effort to be punctual and reliable. If you are unable to attend your scheduled volunteer shift or need to make changes, please notify the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible.
6. Training and Orientation
New volunteers are required to attend an orientation session to become familiar with our policies, procedures, and the specific tasks they will be performing. Depending on your role, additional training may be required.
7. Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free Environment
The use of drugs, alcohol, or any illegal substances is prohibited while volunteering with BFRA. Volunteers should be in a condition to perform their tasks safely and effectively.
8. Respect for Property
Volunteers are expected to take care of BFRA property and respect the property of others. Any damage to equipment, supplies, or facilities should be reported immediately.
9. Volunteer Rights
As a volunteer, you have the right to:
- Be treated with respect and dignity
- Receive appropriate orientation and training
- Have access to a safe and supportive working environment
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve volunteer engagement
10. Termination of Volunteering
We reserve the right to remove a volunteer from any role if they fail to adhere to these policies or if their actions are inconsistent with the mission and values of BFRA. Volunteers may also discontinue their service at any time, though we request notice to help us manage the volunteer program effectively.
11. Liability Waiver and Indemnification
By marking the “I Agree” checkbox and submitting this form, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks involved in volunteering with the Border Family Relief Alliance (BFRA).
